On early Sat morn...

Hmmm. The time now is 11: 50 A.M. And it sure is a sunny Sat here. Am so dog-tired. Have been working overtime for 5 days straight in a row for the past 2 weeks. And this morn, my mum, yours truly, my bro Justin and his wife woke up @ 5 a.m. to go over to my aunt's place so we could go to my late maternal grandpa's cemetery. For those who know what Ching Ming (always falls on 5th April) then you would know what I am talking about.

My late maternal grandma's cemetery is in Sibu. But anyway, we had to bring along torchlights to find out way thru dozens of cemeteries to get to grandpa's as the sky was still dark. I was surprised to see that there were already more than 10 cars there when we got there! WOW! What time did those ppl wake up and get there?!

Anyway, we were there till around 8:05 a.m. Lighting the candles, burning joss-sticks, taking out/arranging the offerings, folding the hell notes (to be burnt much later together with some paper shirts/trousers/a pair of shoes), clearing the weeds around the cemetery. Phew. Despite the wee hours of the morn, it was rather humid then. The sun was pretty strong around 7:15 a.m. Luckily I brought a big umbrella with me! And several bottles of mineral water.

By 7:45 a.m., many ppl arrived and brought with them boxes or big plastic bags of folded hell notes, baskets of offerings, packets of joss-sticks, etc.

Interesting, eh?
